Our location in the region makes it ideal for the centre to
handle many maritime issues. Being a hub to most countries in
the region, marine and other modes of transportation of imports
and exports disputes will be best conducted, settled and
recoveries made through our team of experts of maritime law and
insurance. It may suffice to indicate here that our Managing
Partner and at least one of or Off-Counsel are both member in
the National Drafting Committee, which has been entrusted with
the project of drafting Jordan Maritime Law, in association with
the International Maritime Organization (IMO). We also handle
all formalities needed to register maritime vessels locally and
regionally.
Aljazy & Co. is recognized for its experience in
risk management, including development of policies and
procedures, evaluation and development of alternative liability
insurance arrangements, identifying and quantifying the
exposures that threaten an organization’s assets and
profitability. Our expertise may also be extended to deal with
the management of risks to which all industrial, commercial and
service institutions are exposed. As you are aware these risks
may be avoided, if necessary; minimized as and when practical;
self insured, if it is feasible within the capacity of
institution to be the risk bearer altogether; arrange for the
best cover of insurance for such risks. One of our Off-Counsel
is well established in this area due to his 40 years experience
in insurance, reinsurance and risk management as a whole.
Aljazy & Co. combines unparallel experience in
structuring, negotiating and implementing privatization in key
sectors, including Telecommunications, power, banking, airlines,
oil and gas. Now that many governments have their privatization
programs in place and have divested state-owned enterprises, our
role increasingly is to provide advice to strategic and
financial investors in these newly privatized entities. We
manage due diligence activities, advise on the legal aspects of
privatization, draft and negotiate sales contracts and draw up
confidentiality agreements.
We provide developers, equity investors,
lenders, multilateral agencies and governments in connection
with the structuring, financing and operation of many of
development projects. The distinguishing characteristic of these
projects is that their financing is intended to be serviced by
the revenues generated by the projects themselves, and recourse
is essentially confined to the project’s assets. One of our
Off-Counsel is a specialist in this field and has been engaged
in several projects within the region.
Issues of public international law arise in many
of the most significant transactions and investments. These
include the privatization of State-owned enterprises,
infrastructure development programs, development financed on a
project basis, sovereign financing or debt restructuring, and
natural resources projects. One of our senior partners holds a
PhD in Public International Law and he is a frequent speaker and
commentator in this field.
We have an outstanding experience, In addition
to an unsurpassed depth of legal knowledge and a sophisticated
understanding of transport industry issues and trends. Our team
has extensive experience in the complete range of commercial law
services relevant to transport, aviation industry, ports and
logistics companies Our Managing Partner is a member of the
Drafting Committee for the Jordanian Multi- Model Transport Law.
